Inserting Ads into Blogger.com
Blogger.com is a leading blogging service provider owned by Google. Blogger allows customization of the blog template thus enabling bloggers to insert ads in turn generating revenue for the bloggers. Adsense, a ad publishing service owned by Google, is integrated into the blogger and ads from the Adsense network can be added with a single mouse click to your blog.
However, if you are looking to insert ads from publishers apart Google, then this post is for you. This post explains the method to insert the Javascript of the Advertisement into your blog at blogger.com.
Blogger.com provides it's users with two design templates... Classic Template and New Customizable Template. This post explains how to insert the script in Classic Template.
Step 1: Go to www.blogger.com, login to go to the dashboard. Click on "Settings" link of the blog in which you want to publish ads.
Step 2: Click on the "Template" link at the top of the page.
Step 3: If you are using the new customizable template, you'll be looking at a screen like the image below. Click on "Edit HTML" button. If you are using Classic Template, you'll be looking at HTML code. Go to Step 5.
Step 4: At the bottom of the page, you'll find the link "Revert to Classic Template". Click on it. Click on OK in the prompt that appears. (Warning: If you've customized your template before, there may be a chance of loosing the changes you've made to the design)
Step 5: Now you're using Classic template of blogger. Scroll the code till you get a DIV Class named "post-body". See the screenshot below.
Step 6: Just before < $ BlogItemBody $ >, Insert the ad publishing script. This will publish a ad after the post title, before the content of the post begins. Inserting the ad publishing script after the BlogItemBody will display an Ad at the end of a post.
In this blog, I pasted my code both before and after BlogItemBody. You can see that two ads appear for each post, one after the post title and another at the end of the post. In another post I'll explain how to insert ad scripts in the new template instead of the Classic Template. Till then, Happy earning :)
